A day ago, I went to the local Cherry Blossom Festival in Monterey Park, at Barnes Park. Here is a little bit of history about the festival; The festival which is held every spring in April coincides with the National Annual Festival held in Washington, DC to celebrate the 1912 gift to our Nation’s capital of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Ozaki of Tokyo. Organized completely by community volunteers, the festival’s goal is to showcase the Japanese culture through a number of exhibits, demonstrations and traditional performances all at no cost to the public.
Taken in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. Cherry Blossom Flowers.
The food they had was chicken teriyaki, Poke tuna bowl, chicken curry rice bowl, spam musubi, egg rolls, somen, imagawayaki, fried wontons, sushi, takoyaki (fish balls w/ octopus), and Korean bbq. They had Craft Vendors like: Doll Delight, Hawaiian Fragrant Crystals, La Petite Deer, Mosar, Origami Owl, Paper Flavor, Paws and Pals, Sake Sistahs, Setsu Art, and Sky Elephant.
Below is pictures of jewelry, ikebana flower displays, and bags and clothing sold at the festival.
They also had some really nice pieces of art inside the gym. Watercolors, kanji and so much more.
I bought 2 bracelets from a vendor at the festival. Nice huh? Here is a picture. 🙂
