Nijiya Market -new food edition!

I know I have posted pictures of this market a few times before, I think. This time, they had new food items on display. Most of the time, I am gazing at the food as soon as I enter the market. They have a big variety of rice balls. I saw this BBQ beef and Karaage one there. If you’re hungry and don’t want to walk to far, this is the place to go to. I believe they have a microwave inside. I’ve seen people walk out with some curry or bento boxes as their lunch.

The coolest thing I seem to find interesting is that they sell Croquette Pan (croquettes in sandwich bread), Yakisoba Pan (noodles inside bread), and a Pork Katsu Pan (pork katsu in bread). It’s totally like straight from a Japanese anime or manga.

I was piqued with interest to finding a dessert called coffee jelly. I’ve never tried it but when I want to buy dessert next time, I’m trying it! I did buy some umaibo, which are a “delicious stick” is a small, puffed, cylindrical corn snack from Japan. Its consistency is similar to Cheetos. The wrapper features a popular animated character, Doraemon. They come in different flavors including cheese and corn. I’ll add in a photo later.

Tea Master -Matcha Café & Green Tea Shop

Tea Master -Matcha Café & Green Tea shop in Little Tokyo is an awesome place I just found out about through the good reviews my friends informed me of. It’s located in the small strip mall inside of Honda Plaza.

Inside Tea Master, the place is filled with tea related products like tea cups, tea pots, different types of packaged tea, tea bowls and whisk sets, chopsticks, and the thin wooden stick used to put the tea inside the pot. On the menu, they sell green tea and cold green tea for $2.50. Also, they sell matcha green tea (hot/cold) $4 and a matcha latte for $4.50. They even have a smoothie of the day; flavors varying from amazake, mochi mugi, and matcha.

My friends asked and bought the matcha ice cream for $3.75. The ice cream has matcha poured on top of it. Below is the collage I made; the shots are all different. The 1st shot was taken with my camera. The 2nd shot was taken with my phone. I had my friend remove her jacket from the background to get a clear shot and focus more on the ice cream. The last shot was taken by my friend. We thought of an awesome idea to take a picture of the Tea Master’s card with the ice cream to promote it to our friends and others who may not know of this place.

The address to Tea Master is 450 E 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Fugetsu-do confectionary

Located in Little Tokyo is a family owned mochi confectionary store called Fugetsu-do.

Of all my many years of going to Little Tokyo, I have not gone into this mochi shop before. Then again, I haven’t had the chance to try mochi at all yet. In the store window, they said they were selling sakura mochi. It felt like my friends and I were in a Japanese manga and we were going to get that chance to try sakura mochi. Sakura mochi is a Japanese dessert that is pink, just like the sakura (cherry blossom flowers) and is made of sweet glutinous rice and filled with a sweet red bean paste. It is wrapped in a pickled sakura leaf which is edible. Inside the store, the mochi was available in white and red bean. My friends opted for white bean. I passed on this opportunity to try it but the next time, I think I’ll try it.

The photos I took of the sakura mochi is top row and bottom row labelled below.

Also, I took some pictures of the other types of mochi they had in store, I’m not well versed in Japanese so I don’t really know most of the flavors they had. Not pictured, I saw in the display cases they were selling rice crackers and candies.

The address is 315 E 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Check it out!

Hello Kitty Café truck

I am really late about posting this. The event happened about 2 weeks ago. 2/11/17

Has anyone heard of the Hello Kitty Pop up Café in Irvine?

From last month to this month, Hello Kitty Café has been doing (what I think) as a promotional tour. Since going to Irvine is too far and the fact that I don’t drive yet and still currently take the bus to go wherever I need to go, this was the next best thing.

I had missed my chance to buy something from the truck a month ago when the event was held outside of the Westfield Santa Anita mall in Arcadia. This time, it was held outside of the Glendale Galleria sign across the way from Americana Way mall.

Thankfully, when I arrived the truck was not crowded at all! I assumed since plenty of people love Hello Kitty, it would be packed with people. However, it was not and I was able to purchase the Hello Kitty 3pc cookie set $12, the Hello Kitty 3pc donut set $10, and Hello Kitty Bow water $3, totaling out to be $25. I received a free small Hello Kitty pink bag. I was so happy and so glad I made it out to Glendale to this event. Several families were there and buying some of the merchandise they had on hand like T-shirts and mugs. The van was really pretty and I took several pictures. Plus, the treats tasted really delicious. The donuts had little frosting bows. The cookies were everything I had imagined they’d look like. The water bottle was pretty cute.

All in all, it was the perfect experience and totally awesome to get the chance to taste some of the confections of Hello Kitty Café. The café location in Irvine has more food selection, more variety than the trucks have and I have heard they sell coffee and lemonade via their Yelp page and according to other people’s reviews. I do hope I get that chance to go to Irvine soon.

New Trader’s Joe store

There’s this new Trader’s Joe store in (East) Pasadena. The address is 3035 E. Huntington Dr.  Pasadena, CA 91107. This store is near a Starbucks, a boba place, and a fast food restaurant. I took some pictures inside the place and some of the items that seemed very intriguing. Next to the Trader’s Joe is supposed to be a CVS pharmacy coming soon, I think.

collage-2017-01-27-01_48_57

The Trader’s Joe was generally packed. People were coming and going. I took my time scouring the aisles. I had come to the store with my mom. She did some shopping while I took in the new store.

The best items that I know of are in the freezer aisle. There are shelves of candy, and cookies that are above the freezer aisle. Besides that, I get to see some really awesome food products in the freezer aisle; they have raspberry tarts, pumpkin tarts, chocolate pecan pie, several varieties of pizza, mochi ice cream, pastry pops, turnovers, vegetables, and mac & cheese bites.

Above in the collage I made and consisting of the pictures I took with my phone; some of the items are of the bakery treats on a table towards the back of the store, I found ghost pepper potato and sriracha chips (lattice cut) in the chip aisle, a photo of the various types of cereals, cookies, and a photo of a bottle of syrup and Morello cherries.

I was so tempted to buy the ghost pepper potato chips but I ended up buying a container of chocolate chip mini cookies. I don’t go out shopping to Trader’s Joe so this was an opportunity for me.

Check out this location, it’s pretty awesome!

How my Valentine’s Day went

Happy Valentine’s Day!

My Valentine’s Day started with Astronomy class. It’s a pretty cool class. My teacher let us have the option of leaving early because it’s Valentine’s Day or getting our money worth and staying for the full amount of class. The class unanimously decided to leave. I went to go pick up my red rose from a student club. I had bought it last week during a presale. It was a beautiful red rose wrapped in plastic and a red ribbon. This student club I bought the rose from I took pictures of what they’re selling. They were selling a red single rose in a vase for $10. I think they were accompanied with chocolates. I bought a cup of strawberries from them for $2. My friend was waiting for her friend who was giving her a Valentine gram. I ended up receiving one too. I was happy about that.

My friend and I went to Carl’s Jr. I tried the new Breakfast Burger. The picture of it showed that it had bacon, cheese, egg, hash browns, and hamburger. I was a little disappointed it didn’t look like the picture. It kind of looked deflated but it did have everything on it like the picture was displayed. It tasted awesome! After eating, I gave my friends some chocolate candies, and sweethearts. Half hour later, I went home. On my way home, I took some pictures of flowers. One of my neighbors has a cherry blossom tree. In front of my house, there are roses that I took pictures of.

For dinner, my family decided not to cook and order carry-out Dominos. There was some special offer where a large 2 topping pizza was only $5.99 each. We ordered two. It was delicious. For dessert, my mom had baked some cookies. I had a snickerdoodle cookie.

That’s a picture of my new textbook, sweethearts, and the Valentine gram. Then, I did some math homework. And that’s how my Valentine’s Day went. I think my Valentine’s Day went well, a little eventful and plenty of fun.

Different Rite Aid, still new makeup

So from my previous post, I had gone to a Rite Aid near my school in Monterey Park. Today, I went to a Rite Aid in Montebello and noticed a few more new makeup products.

From right to left & top row to bottom row; Revlon had this new Ultra Hydrating Kiss Balm that came in different flavors like; coconut, peach, apple, strawberry, cherry, and raspberry. I am considering buying the apple or the cherry sometime soon. Wet n Wild had this really cool product called MegaLast Liquid Cat suit Matte Lipstick.

L’Oréal Paris had this Infallible Pro Gloss lip gloss. Covergirl had colorlicious lip gloss. L’Oréal Paris also had this Infallible Paints, liquid eyeliner. Lastly, L’Oréal Paris had this Infallible Shadow Paints.

Have you seen this yet in your Rite Aid store(s)?
